NarrowGate was founded by Todd McKeon, who had in the 1990’s, helped build Nike International’s Labor Compliance Department. In 2002, Todd left Nike and returned to China to pursue a vision of helping factories move beyond basic monitoring. Narrowgate has since been an excellent source of support for small to medium size factories in the apparel and footwear industry.
INFACT Global Partners was founded in 2007 by Ian Spaulding, who had previously spent 8 years in China as Sears head of social compliance. As an outspoken critic of the “comply or die” methodology and proponent of new models for achieving social compliance, Ian shared Todd’s view that there needed to be a better model and set off to help factories achieve compliance through productivity improvements. INFACT has established itself as one of the premier advisory services firms in China working with large and medium size factories in electronics, toys, footwear, apparel, appliances, accessories and ceramics.
On October 20, 2009, Ian, Todd and the other investors of NarrowGate agreed to bring together these two companies under their shared vision. INFACT agreed to acquire NarrowGate and together they create China’s leading “new model” advisory firm. With nearly 40 team members, including specialists in HR, environment, productivity, quality assurance, industrial engineering, compliance, CSR programs and systems, the new INFACT has the capacity and capability to support a broader range of engagements across more industries for factories, manufacturers and retailers of all size.
